    Default Martial Eagle

Just flicking through some older files, as travelling is still a NO GO sadly.

Another frame that was taken whilst on the way back to camp with the 1DX MKII (straight off the production line) and with the 2x. Yes, the camera needed a slight tweak in the calibration department, but it still delivered an acceptable image. No luxury of Eye detection or EVF Histogram here, and perhaps to a degree, the later takes away more of the skill, but it does deliver more keepers.

Thanks to those who commented or views the last posting

On reflection I changed the crop to a slightly tighter one coming in from the LHS & foot, plus I just tweaked the file as I often revise my Workflow with now learning, hopefully for the good.

I like that, it has a real wild atmosphere to it. Re-post is an improvement.

    Hey Steve

Awesome capture, for me I think the OP is better actually, mainly for the the reflection of the head in the water which the RP doesn't have

    Hello Steve,
Wow, how special this is My favourite bird of prey and one of Africa's greatest eagles. Did you know they are endangered, Steve ?
Well captured, nice exposure, good composition - good thinking with the RP.
Superb pose, love it, do not know the circumstances but I detect a bit of aggression, perhaps another bird was flying/landing close by.
Nice colours/natural, good detail and sharpness, IQ is superb.
Thank you so much for sharing

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Steve ... quite an unusual image of this majestic bird of prey , but I like it .
You had to deal with some tough lighting , looking at the sun angle .
Basically it does look good in terms of color and tones and the rendered sharpness is so cool .

Personally I would give the image some more boost both in the color and tonal department , personal taste , and you know how to do that without killing the great amount of visible details .

Not sure if it is just me , image needs some rotation ???

Thanks folks, but did not get any notifications.

Wayne you should occasionally dip your toes into the Wildlife section, not only for some good tips, but also you might see subjects you are more familiar with.

Gabriela, it was in a pan having a bath, the female was in the canopy about 200m away, but calling. This guy was very chilled, but once in position I decided not to move and just stay with the 2x, as you know they can be very skittish and I didn't want to spook him, but to enjoy the encounter.

I'm OK with the overall colour Andreas and as you say it's all personal taste. Rotation, optical for me, I go with the environment and not the legs.

Cool looking eagle. I do like the calling pose and the wet look.
