This beautiful shorebird landed on a thin branch that was barely poking out of the water. The wavelets had that twig going up and down quite a bit, with the sandpiper adjusting its position to keep balance on it. A few fun poses were had, with this one a favorite.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/9, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop to help the comp, cleaned up the eye reflection and removed a second elongated catchlight.
Love the bird, the posture, and especially the fanned tail. Great choice of a just-fast-enough shutter speed.
with love, artie

Light looks great and plentiful, allowing you to achieve some nice techs (f9 was a great choice!). Whites pushing it in a couple spots but works as presented.
Love the wave lines below the perch and comp choice is great. So nice to get all the feet sharp too.
Killer pose! I love these guys in their breeding plumage even if we only get them in winter garb around here. Details are killer, particularly on the feet, and you lucked out with the sun as it imparted some beautiful colors on the bird an water. There do appear to be a few hot spots on the bird, like on the right flank and the lower eye crescent if you felt compelled to turn those down a touch.
Hi Daniel .... very nice image .

Posing looks a bit funny ....
