This is the runt of the brood of three with the alpha in the BG (pictured in earlier post). Images from same spot laying next to waters edge as moving for better angles is problematic (they all run for cover). Thanks to all for help with previous posts. BTW this man made wetland was designed with wide shallow shores for waders with deeper water 20 to 30 meters out for cormorants, anhingas, grebes and the like. Makes it much easier with shallow shoreline to watch for big gators. These are common gallinule(or Moorhen) chicks. They start out all black downy fur balls and move to this phase as they shed the downy black feathers and begin patches of adult plumage(greys and browns).

Details on the bird look really good for 1/500 (a very slow shutter for any sort of action). Foot is great, but faster shutter would have shown much more detail on that appendage. It's tough when you're stuck at f/8 though. I imagine that lens kills in bright sun, but it's going to suffer in anything else. I like the OOF bird behind at it suggests the family.

What a huge foot! Neat image design with the other in the back. I like the setting they are found in too. I'd love a bit more room above (the head of the oof bird seems close to the top edge to me), and the small white line across it should go. A fun frame for sure!

Hi David ... nice capture of the moving bird and the OOF brother adds to it .

I am not going get excited about the " neon " colors ... but your call .
