    Default Food Fight Beat Down!

    Attached Images Attached Images

Least Tern Chicks fighting over immature flying fish

This image was created on a beach in Southeast Florida. Standing at full height, (the colony was above us), I used the Induro GIT 304L/Levered-Clamp FlexShooter Pro-mounted Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS lens with the Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter and The One, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless digital camera. ISO 2500. Exposure determined via Zebras with ISO on the rear dial: 1/2000 sec. at f/5.6 (wide open) in Manual mode. AWB at 9:20am on mostly cloudy, sometimes stormy morning. Wide/AF-C was active at the moment of exposure and performed perfectly by nailing the beak of the bird on our right. As this is a healthy crop, the depth-of-field was provided by the distance to the subject.

Artie, super cool action you caught.

Tones and exposure look great. Love that the fish has great detail as well as all four subjects. Would have been a bonus to get eye contact from the one on the left.

This one would be a candidate for a pano crop IMO, taking some off the top and maybe a sliver off bottom, perhaps.

Only other suggestion would be to consider a mask on the denoise layer to brush in some texture in areas such as the underwing of the subject on the left and the wings and tail of the right most Terns.

    Enjoyed this one, thanks.

The battle royale. Looks like the one on the bottom isn't doing very well. Neat how every chick has a bill on the fish.

Wow Artie love this all the action and the fish leaves you wondering who won the battle. Sharp and just perfect overall. Hard to ask for much more.

Definitely one of my favourites from you for a heck of a long time. The action, low angle, poses, light, detail all take this to another level again

Yeah, this is killer Artie. Four birds with amazing interaction and behavior is rare indeed! The image tells an amazing story; even among siblings, it's survival of the fittest; nature is equally beautiful and brutal.

Nothing to add, just a beauty on all counts. My favorite part is seeing that all four chicks have their bills on the fish - pretty cool.

I'm late to comment though I saw this one a bit after the post. It's just a killer image. TFS.
