Nice pose and perch. Nice too see the plants in the background. Gives a good sense of the environment.

    Jon:
Nice birdscape, agree with John. The crop works well for the bird vs. the background plant at the top.

I might reduce the contrast/brightness of the flowers of the large plant upper left, simply to keep our attention a bit more focused on the bird, while still rewarding checking out the rest of the frame.

I would probably sharpen the head of the bird a touch. You could also consider removing the little 'string' above the bird on the perch.

    Cheers

Agree with Randy's POV/observations here Jon, in addition I might just use the Gradient tool in PS to lightly add in some more diffuse colour at the foot to make the stick slightly more. Subtle but I feel it adds.

I agree with previous comments. Nice natural habitat. I might consider a 4x5 crop loosing the very top of the image (loosing the bright white flower on tip left.)

I love the bird, the image, and especially the image design. IMO, if yo lose the single bright white flower on the upper left frame-edge, this would be a much stronger image as my eye is drawn there every time I look at this with fresh eyes.

Jon, as personal preference I love the depth of color in the op. Contrast is very pleasing to me and the way the blooms frame the subject is cool.

Don't love the rp near as much. I believe that just reducing the brightness of the bkg in the op would help the subject pop as it appears back/top lit and a bit shaded. FWIW, I found the habitat very interesting here.

Otherwise, I'd just wish for a touch more head turn but a really minor nit.

Hi Jon .... nice capture .
Nice pose and good to see the isolated subject in the greenery .
I am fine with the OP as the RP is too flat in tone and color , IMO .

I tried a " screening blend mode " on the subject to the darker tones .... ....
