Such a lovely species... one of my favorites.

I am very particular about perches, and this Yucca shoot is only slightly better than a dead stick but hopefully the beauty of the subject carries the torch...

Beautiful bird and frame. Perch is 'meh' but the head angle is perfect. Exposure and detail look spot on. A species I have seen many time but only managed to photograph in -- wait for it -- Massachusetts!

And the Eiffel 65 reference is awful.....

Excellent Colors. I was thinking about vertical shot when I saw this Image.

Beautiful bird and lovely presentation. The perch is OK, at least not distracting. Sweet BG too.
What AF setting did you use? Thanks.

Haha, glad to make you puke in your mouth with the Eiffel 65 lead in.... thanks for the comments Dorian.

Krishna, thank you very much. I also processed a vertical which I also like a lot - great suggestion.

Yep, me too. I have some with Mullein I'll process at some point. The light was hard to beat. Thanks

Appreciate it much Colin! I was using AF + Face Tracking with animal eye enabled. I use that 100% of the time with perched birds and 90% in flight.

Well, now I have that song stuck in my head. The bird is beautiful. The perch is alright. I could see the bird more to the left.

    Brian:

Beautiful fellow, like his grip on the 'ok' perch. Right on the verge of being a bit crunchy looking re: sharpening. Soft background.

Because of his pose, angle in frame, the current crop works for me.

    Cheers

I don’t mind the perch, it doesn’t take away from the bird. Beautiful color and detail Brian! Great BG as well….bird pops off the page. Great job!

I like the perch. I love the bird, the BKGR, the SH, and the sweet light. In a perfect world, the bird might have had it folded wind fully lowered as is a more typical posture/pose.

Perhaps because I am somewhat of then old f _ _ t, I am not getting the Eiffel 65 reference. Please explain. I am guessing that it has something to do with the title.

John, haha I didn't think about the recourse.... sorry ;-) Thanks for the comments, definitely agree with a version a little left.

    Randy, great feedback.

I can see how it appears on the fringe. The process I take allows me to adjust the amount of dark and light input in terms of contrast in the sharpening and I usually turn each layer off and on to see how it affects, then adjust accordingly. Definitely on the border...

Glad it worked for you overall!

Artie, you're an old soul with a young heart. Blue Da Ba Dee was a catchy dance/house music song from a couple decades ago, published by the band Eiffel 65.

    Thanks for the comments!

Pose is good for me and very nice to see details in the eye !!!!!!!!!
