Default Aerial Uber Eats - American Kestrel full time gig

A pair of American Kestrels decided some boxes on our property would do. Makes me get up early these days but it's worth it. Will post a number of AK images in coming days. Haven't been here in over a year... good to "be back"... Cheers - (I'm sure I have lots of stunning frames to work through in all that time... TIA)... Believe "breakfast" is a Jerusalem cricket.

Very nice action capture. Bug is an interesting bonus. Shadow on the far wing is unfortunate, and I would lose all of the foliage. Physically unconnected to anything, it does more to distract from the subject than add to the frame.

now that's a take off frame... love the dynamic pose with prey! bang on! Congrats on your new camera, it does not miss a beat. shadows a bit unfortunate but not 99% out there cannot dream of capturing a shot like this sharp. I actually like the partial perch, it is not a common perch and adds interest to the frame for me, the take off pose without a perch leaves the viewer wondering a bit

Hi Jay ... superb action captured and the cricket in the beak is a super cool addition .
Colors looking nice , as does the overall tonality .... maybe a bit too dense in the shadows .
Might be difficult to capture .... I would just wish the sharpness / clarity for the bird as the perch has .
For me the sharpness is missing in the subject ... IMHO .

But easy to say from comfy chair ....

I'm really liking this, Jay! Super neat take-off pose, bonus prey item, and I personally like the "perch" too. As posted I could see an additional round of subtle sharpening for the fine detail. If kestrels nested on my property I'd be parked there daily!

The pose is very nice. The prey is another bonus.
