    Default Broad-billed Hummingbird 3

This was taken at feeders at Madera Canyon. I have a clip with a tube which I use to add the flower. Natural BG and light.
I thought about going with a vertical crop on this, but elected a landscape crop instead. I have a few others from same day I did do a vertical perch on and not sure which I like better. Wondering others thoughts? Also, I am still going back and forth on whether or not to tone down the brightness of the perch?

Hi Kurt ... very nice image overall .
Nice flower and the feeding pose is good with a pleasing HA and wing positions .
Colors looking good overall ... personally I would burn the flower , as it is clipped in the red channel .
The shadows on the bird are looking better once opened in PS .... with good details .
You might think about of dodging the shadows in BG .... as an option .

    Cool shot

I think the landscape crop was the right choice. I also think the color levels are generally fine. There might be a few hot spots on various parts of the flower, but it's all regional stuff that can be easily sorted with local adjustments. Black bBG blog right at the bird's through is a bummer but far from a deal breaker.

Love seeing Hummingbird images Kurt, and this one is really nice. For me I'd remove just a little from the RHS (to remove the dark section) and maybe just a little from the LHS too, so as to keep the aspect ratio and not end up with a boxy crop. agree to taking the brightness down on the flowers. I love the pose and the flower, sharp with good details. for me this image has 2 issues. 1) the deep shadows on the bird (A bit of fill would have done wonders) 2) the dark pattern in the BG draws my eye. moving around a bit sometimes can solve the problem
