The water levels along the river have been really low this spring. This allowed me to wade in very far into the marshes without worrying about sinking to my knees in the muck. Or having to wear hip or chest waders (both of which I do not like). Of course the Marsh Wrens, usually not seen from the edge, are all to eager to announce their presence by song and by popping up higher onto reeds when one is so deep into their habitat! This is one of a few individuals that made appearances for me that morning.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/4, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, a distracting strand of webbing removed on top of the wren's head.
Hi Daniel ... very nice looking singing pose of this Wren , almost comical with the spreaded legs .
Lovely color palette and you did well considering the reed environment .... I bet not easy to find a " gap" to shoot . I do really like the soft tonality across the range ... looks very good .
The twig crossing the beak/head is not ideal ... but hey not possible to avoid in this case . Personally I would try to dodge the two darker stems .... as a possible alternative .
Excellent image! Perfect balance of subject and habitat! The pose is great, and I don't mind the positioning and color of any of the reeds. Our focus goes right to the singing beak, and that's exactly what you want.
f/4 really helped here!
Super shot Dan I can appreciate how difficult it can be to get one of these little birds in the frame, the pose is excellent, the reed stems, well they are there and look natural the fact they are not picture perfect does not trouble me.
Awesome picture what a cheeky little thing he must be, agree that his pose is comical, it certainly put a smile on my face, technically top draw as well
