Hy John, nicely composed image, my only suggestion in this matter would be to crop a bit tighter, to eliminate the strip of sky in the URC. On my monitor the moose looks a bit ovesharpened and glossy. I like the way he walks in the picture and the raised front foot. Was the light harsh when you took the shot?

Hi Jon .... lovely trotting pose of the moose in a very nice landscape !!! The yellow leaves are soooo nice .
Without knowing the other version of this image ... I think the image does look a bit " overcooked " in terms of contrast and sharpening , IMHO .
Many times you are suggesting the three tools in ACR that I hardly ever use .... maybe you have used them ??!!! Texture , Dehaze and ..... would be nicer to have less density in the darks and less texture on that fur , well at least in my book .
Looking at the colors and thinking about the sun angle ... I would expect a warmer image ???!!

Well worth to give it a more gentle hand ....

    TFS Andreas

I hear you Andreas..... how is this? (BTW no texture/clarity/dehaze was used on the moose in either image)

Dan it was taken a long time ago so I can't remember what the weather was other than periods of very bight or very dull. I left the sky deliberately, I realise a lot of people would remove it but I thought it gave an indication of scale.

Hi Jon, I think Andreas has nailed the image in terms of colour & detail, but I don't think the small inclusion in the top RHC of the sky adds anything here.

Hi Jon ... the RP does look better to me in terms of color , at least in the moose . Personally I would also look at the shrub in the BG as this does look still " blueish " .
You seem to like the slightly heavy shadows ...
Still think at Iso 2000 the fur should look finer ..... just my take .... and think this is coming from contrast/sharpening WF . So I leave it to you .

    Cheers Andreas

Steve having lots of trouble with internet speed/connection, the repost I think was mine - somehow it is in Andreas' post. Yes I knew sky was contentious but I think it adds, I appreciate most will disagree.

Sorry about that! I find this website in particular can go very slow and then things (i.e me!) get a little mixed up at times.

Beautiful image Jon, and I especially like your RP ( at first I too thought it was Andreas's).

For me the little blue patch of sky works, wish there was more!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
