Another afternoon down by the pier, and more Gannet action. I got a number of poses I've never got before...here's one I really like. Hope you do too. Minor adjustments in ACR and PS only. Cheers.

I like the composition an of course the eyes really hold my attention. I suspect there may be a blue cast on the feathers?

The eyes really do come through in this image. As far as flight close-up shots go, the comp is nice.

Hi Paul ... quite unusual head on flight shot and I like it .
Nice overall color and tones ....
If you have I would move the crop slightly down .... to create a bit more room for the bird at the foot and less above .

Paul, often times these unorthodox crops don't work but actually for me, this crop works pretty well. Maybe just a touch higher in the frame?

The eyes are the mainstay of the image and draw my attention quite nicely. Sharp too.

Having the beak extend just a bit below the tail would be a nice plus but I think you did quite well here.

Thanks all for the feedback. I tried a number of different crops until I found one I liked...but I'll give your suggestions a go too. Cheers.
Jonathan. The original in camera "auto" white balance rendered the image quite bluish. I warmed the bird up somewhat via "auto colour" in Photoshop...which normally works quite well, and I like how it is here, although I do see a hint of blue on the bird's head.

Whoa! This grabbed my attention right from the get-go for all the right reasons. I love the image as is - one of your finest IMO.

The framing works nicely. I like the light and the view of those eyes.
