This was taken from my blind in my yard. I am not sure if this is an immature male Baltimore oriole or a female, my best guess is a female. If anyone else knows please help me with the ID... The gang of Baltimore orioles have arrived and there is a bunch of chasing and rattling going on. I have seen as many as five now at one time slurpin the grape jelly, nectar, or piercing the pulp of an orange. This is my favorite native tree blooming now, Redbud, and it makes any bird look like a million bucks IMHO! There are a few flower petals that are blown or close to it but i chose to leave them be. I chose this crop bc i wanted to leave the horizontal branch with the tender leaf at the end as is... I may be posting more orioles as the season unfolds.

Wooooo, is this sweet. How could a person not love pink and yorange!?

Wonderfully sharp and I like the panoramic crop here. One thing you could try is a bit of selective dodging on the face as it's away from the light source, esp with the brighter blooms.

    Beautiful canvas, thank you!

Yes..a beautiful image Ann. Lovely pose on this cute bird. The flora contrasts so well with the bird, and the BG.

The oriole looks great on that redbud branch. The perch frames the bird nicely. Image design is right on.

Hi Ann lovely subject , photographed nicely in this pinkish firework of blossoms .

On a purely personal basis , I think the overall WB is not " correct " and the dark to midtone tonal range is too dense , IMHO . Is masking potential detail .... that might be there . But this might be your taste .... so no big deal .

A beautiful shot, Ann. The Redbud branch is gorgeous, and the bird (young female?) has chosen exactly the right pose and place to perch. Love the pano crop. I agree just a slight dodging of the face might not hurt. Some years ago Gail posted a beautiful shot using a Redbud setup. and it prompted me to plant three small Redbuds in my back yard. They flowered nicely this season, and I tried several sprigs on my feeder pole, but never got a bird to perch nicely before the flowers wilted. But not a total loss, since the trees enhance my yard.

Thanks Bill, I remember your inspiration and planting of redbuds, you just can't go wrong; plant them and they will come!

DATCA. And a huge yes to opening up the face.

Are the stems always so black? I do not think that redbud grows this far south.

Hi artie, yes, branches are this dark although not black. I selectively dodged head and also breast area conservatively, hope you all like it as per your suggestions. Bummer Artie (FL), this native is a gorgeous lil tree...
