I met this little guy's mom while doing charity shoots for a rescue. Tammy and I spent the whole day with her and her dogs, cats, horses and a few others yesterday. I decided to keep the camera handy for some "candid" shots between set ups. This one came as I was tearing down at the end of the day. Literally the last frame, and my favorite.
Stuart, was adopted after being rescued from a hoarding situation and had a badly broken jaw which, as you can see, didn't heal perfectly.
This was my first true private shoot and I'm thrilled. I know not to expect results like this often (or maybe even ever) but the final order was for 60+ prints, the majority in the 11x14 range.
Wow Jim !!!!!! I am so happy for you . I am not one bit surprised though as your work has been awesome. I find that your images stimulate a lot of feeling and reaction by the viewer and I believe that comes from the fact that you love what you are doing and you love animals. What a combination. I am rooting for you and I hope all your orders will be like this one and that this is just the beginning !!!!!
That said, I also really hope to get out in the field with some birds again soon. Maybe Freddie, my egret friend, will be back this year at my favorite haunt.
Jim,
Excellent job here. I love the look on this little guys face. That said.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! WOW I'm impressed. 60+ prints in the 11 X 15 Cat. Sheesh...it doesn't get any sweeter than that now does it?
Great job.
Big congrats to you, Jim! I have loved your pet images, and am so happy others are able to appreciate your work, too! Best of luck to you in this venture - sounds like you're off to a great start.
BTW, this image is soooooooooo sweet. His mommy is one lucky lady to have had you photograph her little guy!
Thanks again everyone. I've been catching a little flak on a pet forum for the blue backdrop, so I figure it might be time to switch it up to something like this more often.
