Sharpness and image design spot-on. The bird is really beaten up -- I don't think that I have ever seen a gull's bill in such poor condition. NIK Detail Extractor on the breast would likely reveal some additional details.

Your portraits leave nothing to be desired John.

Beautifully processed, incredible detail and the contrast of the lighter Gull against the dramatic gray work masterfully.

Only because it's such an intimate portrait, I might suggest that tiny black dot on the bill and white spot on the body. Daniel Cadieux brought it up recently and in a frame like this, which is near flawless, it sounds like a crazy nit but my eyes wander sometime looking for tiny blemishes like that.

Regardless, I am a bit envious of such a fantastic capture!

Agree that this is an excellent image. I had to search for the spots that Brian pointed out (he's got a very keen eye!)...but this is a wonderful portrait John. I did feel on first viewing that the beak was a tad bright? Just wondering if you could add more colour and tame the brightness a little? The BG contrasts so well (more blue than grey on my calibrated monitor). TFS
