A nice portrait here. I'm sure these are hard to get close too. I like the color in the background.

Well captured Joe...The HA is perfect for the chosen crop...I like the detail and colours on the bird...The BG colours tend to compete in my opinion...if mine I would tone them down a wee bit. What a bill...

I love the background colors. I find motifs like this to be awkward no matter how well done. I often go for a horizontal in such situations. That bird has some very worn feathers.

Lovely shot, I would suggest reducing saturation - globally.

Hey Artie, thank you for viewing and commenting. As always I think your suggestion to go for a horizontal is spot on. Here is a edit and repost going with the horizontal, I also smoothed the background a tad. Thanks again...

P.S. The damaged feathers most likely are from the bird flying into and between the Cat Of Nine Tails.

Joe, first off that bkg is amazing. Wholly moly!

Bird looks good, I think better with the denoise in the first post? But yeah, a little less saturation may help.

I think you could still get away with a vertical crop, personally, perhaps with a 5x4? How much crop was the OP?

Perhaps some cloning remnants right of the subject?

    Overall a really nice canvas!
