    These three guys from a colony of about 8 burrowing owls gave me the stare-down. I know I should have gotten lower, still I love their great eyes.

    You certainly were in trouble. :) I like the stares and different head angles. The image has a slight magenta cast and I might sharpen the bird on the left a bit more and maybe give it a tad more room left and right.

    I also see the colour cast. I may be wrong, but it looks like you applied some Gaussian blur to the BG (I can sort of see a cutout between BG and birds/ground). Nice trio of birds...who won the staredown?? :-)

    Alex and Daniel make some good points here. I would keep after them and work for a more sharp image at wider apertures.

    Very nice image. These stares are threatening :D I believe that the bird in front is a little out of focus. A smaller aperture selection might have been helpfull here if you had a choice.

    WOW! From a person who has only seen these in captivity and flying at night *no camera in hand*
    You did an excellent job of catching all three looking at you. Sweet.
    I agree with the bird on the left of the frame is a little soft. But it's still a great capture.
