A drake of the species was kind enough to spend a few days associating with some mallards, which gave it a much "tamer" demeanour than most other pintails (at least up here). It was tough to isolate form the many mallards, so tighter portraits was a better strategy. The light was getting harsh, but it was standing on fresh snow, which filled in the shadows nicely form the light bouncing back up from underneath.

Yes, not much not to like here Daniel. Exposure looks spot on to me, with nice detail. Lovely pastel BG as Brian points out. Great to see the 7Dii in your expert hands is still able to produce great images. (No R5 yet...lol??)
