Nice view of this osprey. I like the framing and that green background.

Nicely done, love those rich browns. What's the blob on the beak?

Nice green BG here, and I love the way the talon is clutching the perch. I would certainly remove the white spot on the bill, and perhaps reduce the bluish cast on the feathers. Nice and sharp, good vertical comp.

Hi Dan. I like this a lot, but my first reaction was that it's too dark overall and needed the midtones lightened a little. I left it a while and took a new look 10 mins later and changed my mind...I like it as is.
Question: I'm happy with my D500, but was thinking that a D850 could be a good investment for those times the D500/500PF is too close and clips a wing or two (when I can't move back...on a pier for instance, and i don't own a zoom). I've read that af performance on the D850 is not as good as the D500 for BIF, but good for perched birds. The ability to crop on the D850 is a big plus. Thoughts?

    Thanks Paul.
my thoughts are that I bought the D850 now discounted and I bought it to replace my D800 as a landscape camera.
It will be fine for that.
It is not an action camera, the D500 is still the best action camera for the money hands down.
So, it will be fine for me, I do landscape and other Astro and other stuff.
I did not wait for Mirrorless, I dont care that much as IQ wise, in landscape it is no improvement for me.
In the the bird world, it would be nice to have more FPS, but not for $6000.

looks good Dan, agree with cleaning the beak, wish for a slight head turn. The D850 isn't that much slower than the D500 BTW (9fps vs 10 fps) but you need to buy the grip and the D5 battery for it.
