You might remember this lad from a few weeks ago where I posted him in a preening pose.

This frame afforded me a better overall composition I believe while still featuring a strong HA.

Almost full frame, just a slight crop from UR.

    R5
    840mm
    Handheld
    ISO 1600
    1/2500
    f6.3

LR and PS, DN. Slight blending/dodging in upper bkg.

    UPDATE ON OUR SON:

He underwent surgery a week ago to remove the tumor. The Dr told us it was a success and he was able to remove all of the tumor they could see!!

They also removed his adenoids and put tubes in his ears with hopes he will have less congestion.

Our son is sore and stuffy still but finally this morning was getting back to his fun-loving and joyful self.

Again, so grateful for you all's love and support. We are excited to find to a new, healthy normal!

What a gorgeous image to accompany such wonderful news!
Everything is perfection in this image- the simple rock perch, the IQ, the wonderful iridescence on the head and speculum and that wonderful
water colour to compliment the bird.
I might reduce the brightness of the cream area on the rump very slightly.
    Wish this one was mine!

Perfect, but for the small chunk of feathers missing on the forehead. Perhaps bring down the cream on the rump as Gail suggested and open up the shadow behind it ...

IAC, I wish it were mine.

Gail, always value your feedback. Interestingly, I burned that specific section some. Upon your reply, I went back and inspected and values were R 253, B244 and G 235 and I agree, it could stand to be tamed a bit, thank you!

Artie, I agree. It's a bit odd, maybe a younger bird or something? Next time I'll see if I can sprinkle some chia seeds and water on it before shooting lol ;-)

FWIW, I did dodge that shadow area a good bit. Perhaps it could come up some more. Thank you for your comments!
