Love the bird Jonathan but the IQ seems to have suffered and I see lots of noise in the wings surprised at 800. Background takes away being so busy and wish the head wasn't so close to the wing. TFS

Agreed Kevin, this was due to the fact that the image was -1.3EV, I could and probably should have applied more NR on the bird.

Nice that you were able to get a close view of this Grebe. I see them here at one of my favourite locations, but they always never let me get close enough. I'm fine with the BG and head position, but the Grebe does look a little soft. Agree with Kevin re the noise.

Hi Jon, wonderful pose of this Grebe, appears like a wing flap. Exposure and colors look good, maybe the focus locked onto the chest the head does not look as sharp. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jon ... nice pose of the Grebe .
The subject does stand out nicely , even that the BG is a tiny bit busy ... but nothing you can do about .
Personally I think the image can go a bit brighter and some more depth in the darker tones .
A real issue is the very apparent noise .... somehow surprising after all your low level noise shots in recent postings . Well lifting an image a lot is never good !

I do like the pose. Looks as if the bird is about to fall over.

Hi Jon....the bird looks over exposed compared to the rest of the image....sort of don't 'fit in'....I think at 1/1600, prob a wee bit slow for the wing flap...HA and pose I do like.

Will you'r right I made a pig's ear of the processing, there was a terrific contrast in the image, I should have paid more attention the image and less to figures/charts.
