Cool portrait, it seems like it could use a bit more contrast to give some punch...Comp, BG is great...

Looking good Kevin...nice pose and HA...I would try a version with the highlights and yellows reduced...on the bird.

Terrific portrait! I love the raised head feathers. Awesome texture on both the eyebrow and the neck patch. I agree about contrast - particularly the face area, but boy did you succeed with this close-up! I'd be addicted too....

Kevin, just a super portrait my friend. Love it!

Spectacular details, very sharp and a pleasing color palette.

Great suggestions above, and I agree that just a touch of punch in the mids and touch of highs reduction could take this over the top. Unless for competition, you might also consider cloning that small bright grass at bottom.

Was a gem to view, thank you!

Hi Kevin .... sooooo cool !!!!
    Top notch image .
Would not change a thing .... and the least thing I would do is adding contrast , as already suggested .
You have such fine details rendered , by adding contrast you might kill those fine details .

Brilliant work in the field and in processing !!!! Congrats !!!

Looks so good to me Kevin. IMHO it doesn't need more contrast...looks great on my 27 inch calibrated monitor. Yes to a tad reduction in the highlights on the face.

Beautiful. Was this taken this year ?
I am thinking of driving to this place to photograph grouses and prairie chickens.

    Thanks

Very nice portrait. Excellent detail, as mentioned the whites are a little hot.
