    Default Sunrise Loon

This image was captured several years ago but never processed. Early in the morning, with low, angled light giving nice texture on the face.

    D500 600VR. f/4.5 1.1600s. ISO 800. Taken from my little loon boat.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Hey Randy ... a quite " typical" shot of yours .
I do like the way you captured the Loon with the soft wave in front adding some interest .
Sweet light and that eye is simply gorgeous .
Personally I am not fan of clipping the dark tones ... but tastes are different .
I really enjoy the " old school sharpening " ... at least your images does not show artifacts .

Very nice. Bow wave in front adds a lot, great angle.

Super shot Randy, my only reservation is one already mentioned, i.e. some blacks are blocked. I like the blush of colourful light on the face.

That's a beauty Randy...The light and detail on the head is really nice. Lovely colours throughout, great POV, as usual from you. Good work...

Very pretty Randy. I've seen few a Loon that can stand up to yours.

The rich light make this one. Even though the tail end trails off, my eyes were drawn to his and most everything else faded.

Looking forward to more from this season.

Thanks everyone for your input. Agree about the blacks. I was paying so much attention to the face, let some of the other blacks go too dark. Repost has the darkest blacks set at 10. Can see subtle changes in the neck band and the lower sides, but pretty subtle.

    Cheers
