This was taken a while ago, before the rain set in here in Brisbane. First sunny day today in weeks, so looking forward to getting out again.

D500/500PF, 1/800th sec. 5.6, iso1250 in shady conditions. Cheers.

The image looks rather heavy to me Paul, I would consider lifting the darks and mid tones a little.

Hi Paul, nice look at this Osprey. Your original post on my display is closer to the colors of the Osprey here. In the repost the browns appear to be lifted too much. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Paul ... late to the party .
So I keep it short .
Very nice and solid portrait .
From the technical side I am good with the image as posted .... apart from the missing fine structure in most of the areas . Looks like you have smoothed the image a tad too much with some sort of NR . Why at Iso 1250 ???

Hi Andreas: Yes, I do feel now that my re post has some smoothing due to NR. I used more NR on the BG, but didn't remove it from the bird's body enough. The Osprey was perched on a branch quite close to me and it was difficult to back up enough to get the whole bird in the frame. Also, it was quite dark, so I had to use the higher iso to get that shutter speed. In hindsight I could have gone lower. Cheers.
