    Hi folks .... I am becoming a " birdie " .... LOL .
At least I try to produce something decent in my backyard .
Must say it is somehow difficult to get used to this " hide thing " as I feel I do miss some opportunities due to my rudimental hide .
But at least it is somehow fun .... and do photograph .

Nicely done Andreas. You picked a good spot for the background. Well lit and good detail.

It is not sharp at all, decent setup but surprised at 1/2000 you cannot get the bird sharp in a setup and at f7.1 (why?) you did not get DOF...

Looks sharp to me...on the eye at least. Overall I like the composition.

Set up and perch - much better! The pose is pleasing but I too have reservations over the sharpness. I think it is perhaps a DOF issue, the wing tip to tail is soft, had it just been the tail tip I don't think it would have mattered. The eye and lores are deceptive, I had has similar issues when people didn't think my Snow Buntings were as sharp as they could be. I think you need to have a look at local contrast round the eye, my impression is that when the pale feathers and lores are well i.e. fully exposed they tend to to lose detail. I would be surprised if the eye and immediate area was not spot on focus. Let me know what you think.

Thanks folks ... for your comments .

Funny to see the different camps of sharpness .... we might have different views . I am happy with it as presented .... here on my screen , but will take another look .

Jon - i have roughly 0,03 m of DOF to work with .... so the range is quite small , even if the subject does sit parallel to the camera you will not have all in focus .

    Cheers Andreas

Sharpness looks good from my end as well on most of the bird (parts that should be). I suppose you could have stopped down more for the wing and budding perch, but the face and shoulders look spot-on to me. Nice BG, and much better head angle than your more recent post. I'd be OK with a bit more canvas above (and right to retain the ratio).

Andres, love to hear you're drinking the "birdie" kool-aid haha. You're a very good photographer and it's great to see more from you.

Personally, this frame works very well for me. I find it plenty sharp and the look back is great. Silky smooth bkg.

Perch is lovely with the flowers blooming and really nice job getting it parallel to the sensor!

Only suggestion I have is maybe grabbing the bottom right corner and bringing it up and in, as long as it leaves enough in front of the subject. This would position the bird's eye slightly closer to the upper 1/3 line.

    TFS!

    I really like the perch.

I think we can do additional work on Head Area, burn and dodge that area to address perceived lack of sharpness on the head.

Thanks Krishna , personally I do not see any need of adding more sharpness to the image . The head is as sharp as the upper wing .... just the flat natural tonality in the feather structure is giving the illusion of being not as sharp . And I will for sure not add any " fake sharpness " to a local area that is already sharp in the original file .

    Thanks again Andreas

    Hi Andreas

Very nice image and pose. I find it's sharp and focus looks accurate. Shutter speed should be fine for this level of detail. I love the perch and detail.

How do you find the sharpness of that lens and teleconverter? Your crop is minimal, so I would expect with downsizing for the web it would be fine. I was recently testing my 600mm with 1.4 teleconverter and it can be challenging.

You might have lost a little midtone contrast with ISO 4000. While not high by itself, the light is soft and makes it harder to show crisp detail even with perfect focus.

Nice work and I look forward to seeing more.
