Taken July 5 at Chicago Botanic Gardens.

Haven't been out very much lately. Fell and broke some ribs for the 2nd time this year. If I keep doing that, I'm gonna hurt myself. And of course I'm playing for the sympathy vote.:D

    Thanks for looking; C&C appreciated.

Looks like a painting. Sharp and good color. The clipped petal may have hurted it a bit.

love the bg and the colors on this one, kent. would have loved to have seen some flash fill to open up the shadows in the center of the flower. and would have tried to include the lower petal that was cut off. very sharp!! hope you get a chance to work with this one some more!!!

Agree with Nonda about the bottom petal, otherwise it is lovely. Well done

This is so lovely with the light coming through from the back and yes, the petal needs it tip. Thanks for posting, I like it.

Kent, OUCH! You got my sympathy vote all right!

The photo is a great start to a nicely backlit image. You did lose quite a bit of detail in the front petals - a little fill flash would have helped that out. I would also like to have seen either the entire bloom in focus or a tighter crop all around. With just the bottom missing, it feels a little choppy.

Keep trying for that backlighting, though. When you get it just right it makes for a stunning image!
