Yes it would be better if the top bird's head was fully visible but at least the catchlight is just showing.
And of course a more interesting sky!

Hi Colin, Love the interaction and the sky looks good to me. Perhaps a little more in the darkest shadows and as you mentioned better view of eyes. TFS

    Colin:

Dynamic interaction . Agree with your self critique. The whites on the lower birds lower wing are a bit hot. Some of the blacks on the lower wing and breast of that bird are somewhat murky. Did you have to do some post work in those areas?

    Cheers

No blinkies in the raw image Randy so I have messed up a bit with my processing. Will be more careful and leave well enough alone in future.
Thanks to both for the comments.

Hi Colin. My first reaction when looking at this was "I don't like it". Then I looked away for a while and looked again, and my next reaction was "actually I really like the semicircle pattern in this composition". I must admit that I didn't notice the head looking up on the lower Magpie, but when I did it I liked the composition even more. I do think the whites are a bit hot, especially on the lower bird. I can recommend RawDigger for exposure education...has taught me much. Cheers.

Thanks for the tip Paul, I will check it out. The Maggie interaction was over in a split second so really pot luck as to it being an acceptable shot.

Great interaction there Colin...This would be worth having another look at the processing.....The lower bird has hardly any detail at all....apart from the legs and feet.

Hi Colin ... nice action .
Sadly it does not work for me , at least one head including eye should be visible .. IMHO .
Personally I would expect a higher IQ from that kit .... but not sure how many folks can handhold that rig and deliver pin sharp images .
I would be interested how the RAW looks like ???
As posted there is no feather structure visible .... ? Where is it gone ??

Yeah, this doesn't work for me either. There's certainly no shortage of action, but it's too swirling to sort out what's going on, especially without eye contact
from either bird. The fanned tail on the upper bird is perfectly exposed, so there's that.
