    Default Prairie Dog on snow

Shot this Prairie dog last month at Theodore Roosevelt National Park on the way back from Yellowstone NP. Always wanted to get one in snowy conditions. They do occasionally come out in snow but not very many or frequently. The snow was actually melting very fast in the Badlands of Western Nd. This was actually just a small patch of snow.
Shot from the truck and this little guy was coming up to the running boards and chewing on them.
Not a lot of detail in the snow because it was more like ice and glazed over. Cloned in some snow in upper left to get rid of red dirt. Processed with Dpp 4, Photoshop. Comments and critiques appreciated.

Nicely detailed, the cloning you mentioned is not apparent to me. I think I would have liked to see a little more DOF.

    Dear Kevin,

Have not seen one of these in a while! Pretty cool image, your Prairie Dog is super cute and I love the raised leg and tail up, lots of attitude Framing is great and you allowed for some space in front of the subject. A lot of shutter speed there

POV is great. BG looks good to me. Would have loved to see more detail in the eye and some textures in the fur. I suppose those little chaps are very fast - did you manage to maintain focus, and if so where was your focus point?

Overall a nice image and I enjoyed viewing, super timing here and great pose, a pleasure to view

    Kind regards

Thanks for the comments. Actually pretty slow unless disturbed and running for their hole for protection. Focal point was behind the ear.

Hi Kevin -- Really loved this one.

Loved the low POV, and the raised leg.

Agree with the above comments, but enjoyed viewing this one.

    TFS !
