I like the overall warm color. The background is spectacular. Bird is sharp and well-exposed, as Al said.

Lots of good things in this photo. I don't think the perch per se disturbs me as the overall composition. The bird seems to be moving up and left and has no where to go, but the perch fills up half of the image. Maybe moving the bird down and to the right would help???

Gus, a beautiful bird and a great capture. I agree with Gail that a different crop would downplay the perch issue, especially some from the bottom.

Very nice, Gus! You did a great job on lighting and I love your composition. Wish that branch on the right was more in focus but man, did you nail the bird!

Hi folks: Thank you very much for looking at my photo and your comments. I agree completely with you about the perch. I was first going to position it landscape, however, the left end was very cracked and ugly where I cut it off for the portrait version, and in hindsight a square would have been slightly better.

Just for kicks I used quick mask and some Witche's brew, and came up with the latest . . . Gus :D
