For a split second this woodpecker perched and then it was off to the suet. I love the light in the late afternoon where the brambles below provide a sweet rosie BG.

Nice background and interesting perch. Too bad the bird wasn't a little lower. I would probably clone out some of the milkweed pod touching the head. I find it distracting.

This is great, what a unique woodpecker perch! I only wish it looked at you for perfection...

It's a very nice image but I have slight concerns over the white feathers - are they slightly blown and/or possibly slightly oversharpened?

Hi Jon, I agree they look oversharpened and are... The TIFF was fine but i went back to sharpen the jpeg for web and went overboard, thanks for commenting...

Hi Ann .... such a cool shot !!!
    Unique in some ways .
Can only echo Jonīs thoughts about the technical aspect .
Wonder what you have used to sharpen the image , as this is way different compared to others you posted .
To me it is over sharp , grainy and too much NR applied .... all at the time , just in different areas of the image , just my thoughts .

Well worth to go back and start again , with a more gentle hand in terms of NR and sharpening ...

    Cool image , TFS Andreas

Lots to like here! Interesting perch - fun to study the shapes, textures, and lines. I agree about the sharpening thing (but you do too). I also think it would be worth removing the thinnest strand part touching the head. Perfect comp, and very nice tones throughout.

I like the unique perch, details, clean BG and composition. I agree with removing the strand at touching the head. Nice image Ann.

I love the design and framing with that pod, including the falling thread. BG is simply gorgeous... TFS
