This is a winner Jonathan! A lovely overall composition, the bird is sharp and stands out nice against that great BG. I'd wish for a few degrees head turn towards us. I like the foliage but I'd be tempted to remove the foliage at the far left as well as above the bird's tail and back. I'm not mad on the box type crop. TFS

Best so far for me. Love the framing, colors and details. Just jumps off that BG... TFS

    Hi Jon ... a peachy moment .
    Works well !
Personally I think the eye should be more visible and not only a dark blob . Well at least here on my screen .

    Check the demo

Andreas, I agree I normally do lift the eye a little.......... but I didn't this time- for this particular post because an ornithologist friend of mine saw a version with the brighter eye and said, "I bet it didn't really look like that did it?" I will probably strike a balance between reality and pictorial view in future.

Jon ... a matter of taste for sure and was only an idea . And not only the eye is lifted .... as you should see .
The Snow Bunting image also appears slightly sharper with that lift ....

Taking your friends words .... " I bet in reality you will mostly not see what we are are capturing in photos ".... specially when you are not able to get really close

    hi Jon,

the details and sharpness are excellent. especially the colors are natural. The technique is already very good. Andreas made a very good contribution :) very fine line.

Nice bird, perch, BG, techs. I agree with Paul about a bit more head turn, but all-in-all I enjoy this image a lot!
