    Default Eastern Meadowlark Wing Stretch

Dottie and I went to Joe Overstreet Road early yesterday morning hoping to photograph the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in soft early morning light. We saw the flycatcher but not close enough to photograph, so photographed what was available. This Eastern Meadowlark was one of the birds photographed. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

I love Meadowlarks so if this was all you had to shoot, I would be happy :)
Very sharp and interesting pose. Wish you had a bit better perch but the bird lands where he lands, so I don't think it takes away, but a natural perch would have added more interest to the image.

Lovely shot Joe I really like the pose and head angle.
I think I perceive a hint of a halo on the top of the head - maybe the junction of sharpening and NR??
Maybe tame the brightest yellows a little?

Hi Jon, thank you for viewing and commenting. I'll look at the image closer regarding the halo you mention. The yellows on my display don't show as being bright, maybe a difference in our displays and or calibration. Thanks again, Jon.

Hi Kurt, thank you for viewing and commenting. This area is typical for many areas in central Florida, cow pastures and sod farms (no trees and few bushes because the fences are cleared of brush). The Meadowlarks love the pasture lands. I hope for a weathered, old looking post for a perch. Unfortunately this perch was relatively new. Thanks again, Kurt.

Hey Joe, this looks real good....What a brilliant pose with good detail throughout...I see the wee halo Jon is on about....but wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been mentioned. Great looking BG and I don't mind the perch...There's enough weathered look for my tastes.
