    Default Toothbrush

Check out her bristles! Part of the unique shoveler beak, they filter out inedible matter as she sifts through nutrient suspensions.
This is the best view I've ever had of that adaptation, so I'm super stoked about that. Also digging the soft pastel surrounds.

Was set up for flight stuff at 1/5000, but - alas - noting flew by at an acceptable angle and in range.

Processed in LR CC with a touch of NR in Topaz. Cloned a few tiny specs on water.

Love the color of the water. Nice demonstration of those bristles - never noticed them before. Maybe a tad too much sharpening?

Oh wow, never seen this stuff before. Very nice. I like the eye contact too, water color is excellent too.

Lovely shot, the bristles show even better if you have a look in ACR - take the adjustment bush and gently lower luminosity on the inner aspect of the lower mandible.

    Dorian:

Great shooting angle, you had to be right on the water. The usual excellent tech. stuff, but this is an outstanding display of the lamellae and not bad for the nail too!

We used to have shovelers come through here, but not any for a number of years, miss them as they are such distinctive birds.

    Well done.
