    Hi all,
Managed to grab some shots of the Osprey perched on a branch recently.

    Nikon D500/500 PF, 1/1000th sec@f6.3, iso1000, manual mode...shot in shady conditions.

A pleasing shot, the contrast appears to be a little stark to me, I feel if a more gentle approach to the raw processing was applied it would revel better detail.

    Paul:

Good pose, like the perch, soft background. Do agree with Jon, soften the contrast a bit and try to tease out more detail on bird.

The area just to the left of the bird seems a bit mottled. I also might consider very gently softening the plain twig right above the head.

    Cheers

Thanks Jonathan and Randy. Contrast suggestion is good...I'll go back and check it out.
Randy: the area that you refer to in the original raw was a major issue for me. It was a blue area which I didn't like. I basically reduced the saturation and then applied a blur to it as it was indeed "mottled" as you say. I'm still not happy with that, so may go back and re-edit. I also removed quite a few twigs etc that were around its head area.

love the osprey, details are good I think the contrasty look is from the harsh light, a shame here otherwise a perfect frame. the view of talons and details are superb. artifacts in the BG noted.
