I have been limited to backyard set-up photography due to weather mostly.
I thought I would post something different today. From Australia 2019.
We had been hiking through the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland, Australia looking for cassowaries without luck. As we returned to the car park, I spotted this little rainforest jewel deep in the shadows of the rainforest.
For some reason. I have always liked this image- maybe it is the leading lines within the image.
Canon 1 DX, 600mm and 1.4 x, handheld with lens against a tree trunk.
ISO 1000 F 7.1 SS 1/320 about 80% FF. Cloned out a little bug on left side leaf.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail
Aargh...downsizing to web created some pixellation in BG but full res JPEG and TIFF are fine.

Ok, this is just magnificent Gail. Almost has a macro look to it.

A great look at a species many of us never see and with the tongue out to boot (is this in the Hummingbird family?). Perched on the buds with the gorgeous white bloom (for perspective) works very nicely and flows nicely right with the birds direction.

Composition and color are all perfect. Thanks for sharing!

A nice find, right place at the right time. Gorgeous bird, lovely white flower, both work together and compliment each. Thank you for sharing, Gail.

Great view of this striking bird, a species I also saw on the Queensland Coast. The tongue is a lot of fun, and I think the wide crop shows the flower very nicely. The one intersecting leaf behind is mildly distracting, but it mostly works given the wider view of the plant you present. Exposure and detail look great across the bird.

Nice canvas overall Gail.....I really like the colours throughout and the position of the bird in the frame is spot on. This will look real pretty printed large.

I like the perch, pose, IQ and composition. The tongue hanging out makes it even better. Well done as always Gail.
