From the same session as the one I posted a few days ago. Aside from traditional branch perches I also setup this stump that I found nearby, and hand-sprinkled some snow on it. A tray of seeds below and voilą!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/4, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, just about FF (very minor crop to tweak the comp), eye work, a few specks spot-removed on the bill and on the neck feathers.

    This is really nice Daniel.
    Great IQ and excellent set-up.
Great BG and I love the position of the body parallel to the sensor,

Daniel, fantastic job on this setup. Particularly, I love the "sprinkle of snow"; it looks very natural as does the perch.

I'm blown away seeing all these EGB's at how the yellow always seems to glow. Perfect exp and great job capturing the whole subject in focus.

Bkg is stellar and composition works very well. All around great frame!

Hi Dan, I remember these birds from my time in New Hampshire. They always arrived at the bird feeders with a snow storm. Beautiful bird, nice perch and background. Very nice color palette to the image. My first impression when opening the image was that the shape and angle of the bird might show better in a horizontal. That being said I am sure you chose the vertical to accentuate the perch. Lovely image, thank you for sharing.

Awesome frame. So envious of you ability to do set-ups with these wonderful birds. Exposure, detail, and head angle are perfect, and I think you did a great job with the stumpy perch.
I guess a 4x5 crop might be tough is this is already close to full frame. I'd just like a bit more room at left, near the tail.

Beautiful image. No real nits. I prefer 4x5 for vertical crop, so I would probably be inclined to just remove canvas from the bottom to make it so.
