    Hi folks ... a great treat to find this species with a real youngster .
    If you look closely you can see the rest of the .... sorry not knowing the English name for it .
    Image taken in the Kgalagadi back in 2014 .
    Colors are realistic IMHO

    Canon EOS 1Dx
    EF 200 - 400 IS L with TC engaged ( at 448 mm )
    Beanbag

    F 6,3 ; Iso 1600 ; 1/1000 sec ; man exp

    Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2021 ; slight cropped for comp

    Beautiful, like the light and the youngster. I think you are referring to the umbilical cord. Beautiful colors and the ears are so neat. TFS

    I think the lighting was a little tricky but you did a good job, the calf looks pretty cute, interesting to note the ear patterns are there so early in life.

    Hello Andreas,

    Very special sighting, you were lucky to see and photograph this Hartebeest baby, moms usually hide them away for quite some time after they give birth As your image shows, the young are well developed. And able to run within twenty four hours!

    Lighting conditions rather harsh but you exposed well. And yes, colours are spot on. Love the little one! I do not have a single image of a newborn Hartebeest, rather jealous...Very precious, wish it was mine
