Another image from last fall. the kites were quite active and there were many good photography opportunities but unfortunately this was when we had extreme heat and smoke from the fires which rendered 90%+ of the shots an instant delete. There were exactly 2 evenings when conditions were descent enough photography late in the evening. This frame is from the first evening. I was fortunate the kite landed in the right direction facing the light, the mouse...not so much

    Hope you like it.

shot with A9 II and 600GM + 2X TC (necessary for kites) ISO-2000 f/8 1/3200 sec hand held processed with C1P. 85% of the full frame

    Arash:

Great wing display, prey item, gaze at perch, light. I could see a modest crop in from the right, since his gaze and flight direction is down towards the perch, and it would reduce the impact of the yellow areas in RLC.

    Beautiful capture.

I like the Blue/green at the top of the BG and the yellow shoots, adds to the image... Detail off the charts...

Details are fantastic love the wings and tail fan. Background colors go really well with the kite. I know what you mean with the fires. I also had trouble shooting in August and September. TFS

Exposure and detail are off the charts, but my favorite part of this image is the stalling secondary feathers. A landing is just a controlled crash, and we can see the lift force evaporating as the bird slows to assume the perch.
