Hi folks ... I have raptors , too
Old file from Namibia , taken in Etosha NP .... back in 2011 , many moons ago .
These guys are quite common in those arid areas and sometimes they can be quite cooperative .
Normally sitting on trees or bushes ... this one decided to sit on the road side .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L
    Beanbag

    F 8; Iso 500 ; 1/800 sec ; man exp ..... OMG these settings

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2021 ; cropped for comp and added a bit of canvas to the top , basically full frame

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread

    Cheers Andreas

I like the statuesque pose, sharpness and complimentary BG. Comp wise I would take some off the top, if mine. A bird I never seen or heard of, so TFS Andreas.

Andreas, still on my bucket list is a cousin, the Northern Goshawk. Never knew this species existed but adding it too...

Certainly a handsome tike. I really like the perch and the native feel with its surroundings.

But for me, it could really use a punch and perhaps a touch of warmth. The detail is great but grays and oranges feel muted. Maybe my eyes are messing with me.

Also, feel like maybe you didn't need to add to the top? In fact, this one may classify as a 5x4 candidate perhaps, cutting down a little from top and giving room to right?

Anyway, always nice to see something different from traditional Stateside birds.

Thanks Jim and Brian for your comments , much appreciated .

Brian - i had thought about your suggestions , I am not you .... but fiddled something slightly into your direction . Just deepened the tones and added some slight warming to the subject , not much as the shot was taken in mid day light .... somehow . So there is no warmth by nature ....
Maybe the RP is coming closer to what you are having in mind ..... but I would not go further as a personal preference .

I love both posts and could see it either way. The soft colors, framing, environmental BG all superb. The cool subject doesn't hurt either. TFS
