I'm deeply saddened to tell all of you that Geoffrey passed away on Sunday night in his house. Details are scant, but his heart condition was apparently the cause. Several hours earlier he had been out in our local grassland hoping for the Short-eared Owls.

Geoffrey was a good friend and my frequent shooting buddy. He was a talented photographer, always striving to polish his craft. He was a freelance commercial photographer in LA for many years, and when he moved east and met some of us at the local lake some 8 or 9 years ago, he got hooked on photographing avian subjects. His sense of humor and adaptability made him a good travel companion, joining Joanne and me on destinations from Iceland to the Amazon, Florida to New Mexico, Trinidad to Botswana. He loved animals, music, movies. He had a terrific memory, scientific curiosity, and a great grasp of diverse facts and details. He was a kind, gentle soul, and made friends easily wherever he went, as you can see in this photo from Tampa Bay.

    He will be sorely missed.

    Bill,
I only knew Geoffrey through this forum, but in those smaller but meaningful encounters knew what you said to be true. I will personally miss him and have you, his family and all his friends in my thoughts and prayers.
    Peace,
    David

I can only echo Gails comment here Bill, and it was sad to read this new yesterday. He was a lovely, kind Gent who just loved to share his images and I just wished he could have shared more in Wildlife too, he will be missed by all her on BPN.

Condolences to his family, RIP Geoffrey.

Hello Bill, I love this photograph of Geoffrey! I have been saddened since you shared this terrible news with Gail and I earlier this week. I keep replaying our outing to Nickerson in August of 2019 where I was able to pal around with you and Geoffrey. He was a kind soul, gentle, and a great smile. It was apparent how both of you were brothers to each other when we were all together. I enjoyed our correspondence after our shooting together and often would send Geoffrey audio files of birds. I am happy I was able to enjoy his company and i will miss him. My condolences to his family and to you Bill, he was your shooting buddy and so much more. May he soar with the birds and be forever at peace.

Thank you Artie. Your love and support are most appreciated. Yes, I remember that day. That was when the Skimmer chicks and parents were all out on the open beach for some great opportunities. My shot of Geoffrey and Spoonbill was taken at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa.

Sad to hear this news Bill (and anybody else connected to Geoffrey). Never met him in person but he always came across on here as a real gent who loved being out shooting our feathered friends
