Taken in the Timbavati area of SA, these birds seem to keep their distance for me, compared top young Stu B. I always feel they look unkempt & rather scruffy when they ruffle their feathers. Shot from our jeep whilst resting on a bean bag and the rest of me wedged in the passenger seat to get a better and more stable POV.

    I left the cobwebs in.

Exposure looks spot on details everywhere! I like the colours too, it is easy to oversaturate the bill, composition looks very natural, nice shot!

Cheers Jon, certainly one from the archives , "Rachels days", so that must be the 9th or 10th tour to Africa/SA. Normally we are shadowing a big cat, or responding to intel/alarm calls, so stopping for an Avian shot is on reflection, rather nice , but rarely do they perch in nice habitat/good light or let you get too close, but always worth a punt as you could be pleasantly surprised, or just delete.

    Steve:

Agree with Jon's comments. Also enjoyed the details behind the picture.

I might try a version with a bit off the top.

    Cheers
