if you're wondering why my settings were what they are, I was shooting flying birds when this opportunity came along. It was fast, couldn't change anything quick enough.

Super cool grab shot. Love the expression/pose and details with sweet BG... EXP spot on as well... TFS

Amazing IQ at that ISO. Perfect EXP and DOF. The pose puts it over the top.

I could see a version with the bird moved a tad more to the right in the frame.

Nice Close up,, a bit of feather noise, but a cool portrait!

Kurt, I haven't seen a ton of your frames but I'd say this is probably a favorite for me thus far.

Stupendous IQ, sick bkg and the pose is unreal.

Agree with Sidharth that taking a peek at a version a bit more right in frame might prove valuable.

    Beautiful job man.

I don't see whole lot wrong with your settings Kurt the image looks good, you froze the pose and have good detail. The eyeball and lores could be tempted to show more detail I think, but I think this is a strong image.

Hi Kurt .... love expression in this one !!!
    Well timed shot .
No nits from my side , only improvement i can see is the control of the blacks , IMHO .
But this a thing that is often discussed here .... I would say a matter of taste and a personal pref of the photographers . I stay my ground to avoid heavy blacks ..... for more detail showing through .

Enjoyed viewing this one , TFS Andreas

This is pretty neat!! I love the detail, open-bill pose, and that tongue. Very cool eye too - nice to see it from so close. Good green BG. Cameras perform so well now in terms of ISO that it is no longer as big an issue as it was not too long ago to not be able to tweak settings when in a pinch.

Lovely portrait. Lighting is great, and you can't beat that clean BG. Details on layered feathers are money. Seems right side of neck is just slightly sharper than face. Composition is perfect.
