    Hi Paul, good close up of this Darter with his beak open. I like the intense stare, and colours look natural, and nice smooth BG. Very similar to our African Darters.

    Cool close-up, and check out that funky eye! Nice that you got it in peak yawn-mode. Good details throughout. This one needed a better head angle though, and I do find the subject low in the frame.

    One of your birds I'd love to see one day. Just stunning details. HA doesn't bother me as it is a clear view of the face/eye, but could go for a little higher in the frame . Thanks for the detailed view and for sharing.

    Great detail, I like the eyes a lot in this and of course the open beak. I also find it a bit low in the frame though.

    Thanks all for the feedback. Yes to too low in the frame...just wanted to focus on the head closeness as per the theme. However, I'll go back and find the raw file to see my original view. Cheers.

    Killer pose and details, but the bird doesn't connect looking away from us. Bummer as the lighting looks really nice!
