Default First Bird Pic. White-Crowned Sparrow

Went out looking for some birds. After shooting at everything from ducks to hawks to eagles and Ring-necked Pheasants, this was the only half decent shot.

Hi Justin and welcome aboard. A beautiful subject isolated on a nice perch (for man-made at least). Love the pose and BG but the subject looks a little soft. First thing to look at on soft subjects is your shutter speed and at 1/8000 you have more than enough. So, probably just a large crop that is making it soft. You gotta get close at 200mm to put more pixels on the subject. I love your canvas design... TFS

    Looking forward to more...

You are going to have to be very close at 200mm to get decent image quality. The pose is nice.

Hi Justin, a big welcome to BPN. You have captured a good angled pose here, and as John has stated, bringing your subjects closer, or cropping more in pp work show up more details.

Hi Justin, welcome to BPN!! I am glad you've decided to jump in and post. My favorite sparrow species too, so bonus points for that. I agree it looks soft as posted - did you sharpen additionally for web? Good perch, clean BG, parallel pose looks good. Light angle not your best friend here as it coming from behind/left.

Happy New Year, and keep them coming!
