During the snowstorm, this male perched nicely on the crabapple branch with its many craggy stems. Looks like he was a bit late for the last two crabapples. This is a younger male with more gray and a less saturated red. I like how two tail feathers have locked together temporarily. processed in DPP then on to PS. cleaned up the beak. DN, reduced EXP...

This guy is really getting blown around from that wind. I like how the wind is blowing that crest up and tail over sideways. Nice winter setting and sharpness looks good too. Well done under challenging conditions Ann.

This is the nicest winter one yet as far as the bird goes, it looks alert, nice HA and cocked tail.

I like the composition here a lot. The branch as it is and the color of the tips goes well with the bird. Nice.

Nice one , like the stormy feel in the image .
Comp and tones are looking good , might open up the blacks a tiny fraction ,
Ann ... your posted images are not having a color profile attached to them !!! For a better representation you " should" save them with the " SRGB profile " embedded .

Love the cool blustery feel in this one. The perch and framing so sweet and great control of the reds. Keep them coming, my friend... TFS

I can feel the cold in this image! The red really pops and the windblown crest really heightens the blustery feel. Details on the bird are outstanding. Would have loved a bit more DOF across the perch, but you were struggling for light as it was.

    This is really nice!
Love the windswept crown and the cocked tail.
Soft, subtle colors and the reds look great.
    Well done,
    Gail

    Another beauty Ann!

The look back with cocked tail definitely adds character to an already stunning subject. Like the complimentary bkg and you did well with the comp.

Would have been great to see this one with flora/fruit in the earlier months but nice job all around here :-)

Love that three cardinals were posted yesterday. A great view of this male. Really digging the ruffed up feathers and the raised crest. The perch looks very natural in terms of a set up.

I love cardinals too! This is a branch on my crabapple tree near a feeder... Sadly, this ol crabapple tree took on much damage after the gypsy moth invasion a couple of summers ago...
