This one was taken yesterday at the same location as the previous Jacana I posted, after spending two hours at an Osprey location that gave me nothing! Always good to get home with something...lol

Hi Paul, impressive bird species and in flight. I think you did well with the light that you had, seems harsh and off center... I am so impressed with the flying claws! Nice BG, artifact on left bottom on the edge, something cloned? Would love to photograph these birds in flight and on vegetation. TFS

Hi Ann. Thank you for the feedback and your keen eye! I fixed the artifact on my master file. Cheers. (I have plenty of these birds on vegetation).

Very interesting bird. Those legs are very cool. Maybe you can open up the shadows a bit, in Camera Raw for example, to lower the contrast a bit. It works well for me.

Thank you Ilrja. I like the blacks/shadows as they are, as well as the contrast, but I know others may not. Cheers.

Paul, sure is a sharp file. Really interesting pose with the downward head and dangling claws!

Bkg is smooth and the neutrals with the splash of color at bottom work nicely.

My biggest gripe would just be the harsh light angle. Bit lower sun and this is a real gem.

Look forward to more. Oh, and if we ever make it down under I'd love a guide

Paul, I've really enjoyed your flight images with this species. I love the contrast on this subject and your EXP is spot on for me. The painterly BG takes this over the top... TFS

Brian: Thanks so much. Yes, the light was not that great. I spent a couple of hours at the Osprey location, but by the time I got to the Jacana location the light was already getting harsh...even at 8am. Got to get up early here in Brisbane at this time of year! If you ever make it here you'd have a warm welcome for sure.
David: Thank you my friend...your feedback is always appreciated.
Happy new year to you both...let's hope 2021 brings some "normalcy" to the world.

You really have these guys dialed in, Paul! Another great look at this bizarrely-beautiful bird! Color and detail look great. Light was a bit steep but getting up at 4am or whatever mid-summer requires is tough sometimes!

Great flight pose of this bird. Love the dangling toes. Harsh light noted. Is the red color accurate? Looks just a bit pinkish on my screen, but perhaps that's the way they are.

HI Dorian and Bill. I really appreciate the feedback.
Bill: Yes, the colour is as it is, but I normally add a bit of saturation to the crest...didn't this time
Happy New year to you both.

The bird is tack sharp. Also love that pose. Yes the light is pretty bright. I too distracted by this neat looking bird though.
