Great details, head angle and iridescence. I would give it a bit more room at the top. In order to get a nice blurry BG you probably would have to be even lower than you were, camera on the ground so to speak. Thanks for sharing!

What lovely colors compared to all the Pigeons/doves in South Africa, well done.

Indeed a lovely image of a lovely bird, agree with Axel.

Loukie, I think you are unfair to our doves though...;)

Lovely bird, and one that I've not seen before Tony. Good points by Axel. This dove's got American doves beaten hands down in the looks department!

What an amazing looking bird, to call it common is a bit unfair.

Although the sharpness looks great here, you are not giving yourself much chance at 1/40s. with ISO200. Don't be afraid to bump it up to give yourself more shutter speed in these situations. Having said this the image turned out wonderful, but only wish for more room especially above. The colours on the wing are very cool!! :-)

    Hi Daniel

Believe it or not these birds stop and stand absolutely dead still when coming in for a drink as this one was. In this case the slow shutter speed was ok on a sturdy tripod.

    Thanks for the comments

Excellent image Tony - I like the typical pose, feather deatil and iridescence.
