Few days back I had posted the shot of an Indian Giant Squirrel, Ratufa Indica. It was an unusual shot as it was trying to come closer to me. I am posting a shot from that series, which will give an idea how it looks like.

The Indian Giant Squirrel had come to the ground, a rare instance. I photographed it at the base of the huge tree.

f4, 1/80 sec, 215mm, ISO 400, Canon EOS 40D, EF 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM, Canon EF 1.4x II, hand held, full frame.

Well I was originally going to ask if there was something wrong with the colour. A quick GOOGLE revealed it was this colour, amazing!

I also found this link to a video if anybody wishes to see one moving

I haven't seen one of these before. The ears look very unusual, Maybe another round of sharpening. Thanks for sharing!

Love those ears and the color is amazing for a small mammal. Pretty cute.

What an interesting species. I might have liked a vertical composition here. Might need a bit more FG. Nice catchlight in the eyes...

Hi Sabyasachi,Maybe a bit of room at the bottom as D Robert suggested.........but I believe a crop off 1/2 te top above the squirrel and proportionally off the left would greatly improve the impact. Very nice pose and exposure.

Woah! This thing is strange looking. So strange that it's cute.
Nice color too. I agree a little more sharpening would be good. But overall I do like it.

    Hi Robert,
I do have a vertical composition. I was quickly trying to shoot a couple of shots as it was coming closer to me. And finaly it jumped on to me. I am posting the vertical composition. I was having a sprain in my palm and hence I was using the 40D for the first time, instead of my 1DII. Shooting vertical without a grip was tough, but somehow managed this and got a few shots sharp. Sharing the vertical shot here. It is also full frame.
    ISO 400, 215 mm ( EF 70-200 mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 1.4xII), f4, 1/100 sec, aperture priority.

    Hi Sabyasachi,
What an interesting looking animal. Neat colors too. I think the horizontal crop that Roman suggested work well but I also like the vertical (the lines in the bark of the tree lead my eye up, right where one would look for a squirrel, even a giant one!)
