This is sweet Jon. Love the framing with green awesome BG on top and sky BG on bottom. Also love the inclusion of the grasses reflection. TFS

Hi Jon, looks like the pool is attracting the neighbours back in.

The vast expanse of white water isn't pulling me and I feel, although the weather has been dire to say the least, it's a tad dark. I would open it up, reduce the red in the subject as I think it's more grey and bring the vegetation up creating some tonal depth and range. IQ looks better on this one.

Looks great for a backyard set up. Love the reflection. The water really makes this one. Is this a water feature the birds come to bath in?

Neat image particularly love the strip of grass looks like some moss included or some other plant. Background color is great and as the reflection. Do see what Steve is saying about the reds. TFS

Jon, the reflection is really cool and I like the plush greens around the rim.

Was going to suggest opening things up and I see Steve's rework did that.

Only other suggestion I can offer is find myself wanting a bit more above the birds head. Although, getting the reflection is also a priority so not sure but maybe a 4x5 crop could be good or even try a vertical?

    Best, Brian

Love the reflection! I also find myself wishing for more room on the top. I also like the repost from Steve.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, much appreciated. (The slow shutter speed was quite deliberate, there were of course lots of failures. The exposure at +0.7 -not enough - could have been +1.0 to +1.3)
The red removal looks good, looking this morning with very dull daylight entering my study it looks obvious, yesterday evening I had a daylight light switched on in the room, I am beginning to think it is not a good idea, even though it is shaded and no direct light falls on the screen.

John the set up is very easy, get a large potting tray from your garden centre, place it on an old table or support of some kind so you can sit comfortably and get the correct angle. Put some branches or grass at the far end and add some water pretty much job done!. Sometimes moss is used, I think moss on its own looks a little false so I cut some grass off the lawn that contained some moss and after a few days it settles down and looks ok. I sometimes place pieces of plywood along the side at the far end so this stops bird from sitting on the sides as opposed to the end where you want them, I also use sheets of polystyrene these are good at reflecting light.
Composition I agree with you, I wasn't keen I did shoot some portrait mode but the light became very limited so I ditched them.

I am hoping for some light and less rain in the New Year, it is pretty dismal here now!!

hi Jon ... nice one .
Lovely pose of the sparrow and the mirrored view is taking this up a notch . Perfect OOF BG .
Steve has created a good RP , and is right with the colors IMHO . Just think the reflection should go lighter as well for perfection .

BTW just use the eyedropper tool for checking color , regardless what lights are falling into your room . Better than trusting your eyes ....

    TFS Andreas
