A different Goldeneye Drake. Wish for maybe a bit more vertical from the opposite wing.

This is the first attempt at starting with Adobe Neutral in LR and building up. It takes a lot more effort in moving sliders and adding contrast and saturation, but I would like to know your opinions.

    Canon R5
    600mm bare
    Handheld
    ISO 1250
    f6.3
    1/6400

LR and PS, DN. Added some canvas at top and had to touch the first primary. Removed a tiny black tip peeking out right of the main wing (from the opposing primary feather tip). Also removed the beak tip from a juvenile entering the frame at right.

Beautiful image Brian! I like the IQ, exposure, droplets on the belly, HA and composition. I would say your efforts paid off!

    Fantastic!
I love the sharpness and details in the common goldeneye but I absolutely love the colors in the BG.
    Whites and iridescence are perfect.
You have a great spot for these ducks.
    Jealousy bone is throbbing.
Do you mean Adobe Standard or Neutral.?Either way, you are correct that it requires a lot more workflow.you did a great job.

Hi Brian ... does look great to me .
007 does look like a flying torpedo .... I do not mind the far wing .
Nice details in the tonal range from HL to 3/4 tones .... just the blacks are a tiny bit to dense for my taste ( clipped in all channels ) .
To me the colors are slightly in the magenta side , you were there .... and as colors are subjective , I leave it to you how to portray them .
If looking critically .... one can see the slight sharpening halo along the high contrast edges , can be avoided

I have a slight smile on my face , when reading your words about the effort of getting the colors and contrast right ( more or less manually) .... to me it is no effort it is just fun to work that way , instead of trusting presets .

Very nice and I enjoyed viewing .

Excellent work Brain! Great techs all around. What really sets this one off for me is the complimentary BG color. Love it! Keep them coming!

Well done Brian, love the EXP and against the lovely pastel sky it is a winner. Tack sharp and processing all looks really good. Love the water drops on the duck!

If the stellar view of this beauty isn't enough, that sky takes it way over the top... Congrats and TFS

Not much to add here Brian, just superb. I don't do much in the way of flights. I wish I had this one way over the top and the background colors light this one up. One may get a shot in focus but the background sure can make or break a shot. Enjoyed viewing as always.

Gail, thank you. Yes, I went Adobe Neutral on this one. With "Color" and "Standard" the blacks in the head were so dark it just didn't look right so went for Neutral and built it up.

Andreas, appreciate the comments. Yes the bkg especially has some pinks in it and after playing with some WB I ended up here.

The contrast thing has been hit pretty hard here over the past months with Andreas, Jon and a few others. We're kind of finding what works for us all I guess but I could see a version with a tad less contrast.

Hi Brian, excellent light and IQ here, and you have nailed this nicely. Overall exposure on the whites and the greens look good, as does the sharpness. Gotta love the colours of the BG. Well captured.

How anyone who is not blind could find fault with this image is far beyond me.

Are you familiar with Johan Cruff, the Dutch footballer (aka soccer player) who was know as the "Flying Dutchman?" My new nickname for you Wesley is "The Flying Duckman." Ditto all the positives X 10.

    with love, artie
