In 2015, Geoffrey and I had a morning to kill in Lima while waiting for our mid-day flight to Iquitos and the Peruvian Amazon. We arranged for the services of a local birder/photographer/guide. I told him that my top target birds were the Inca Tern and this colorful, miniature tyrant flycatcher. Our guide met us at our hotel before dawn, and knew exactly where to find both target birds, along with a few coastal Peruvian endemics. It was a morning well spent.
Hi Bill, your comp suits the vertical reeds, and I have not seen this species before. Interesting middle claw/nail. Congrats on seeing your target birds.
What a great day of avian photography that was, Bill. This is a fine example. Like the inquisitive pose, and that beautiful pastel green reed background.
Well done bill....glad everything worked out for both of you...Great colours on the bird and I love the pose. The IQ on the bird seems to be suffering a little, maybe the crop...
Brian, I wondered who would be first to comment on the eye. I hesitate to admit: I tried something that I hadn't tried before (and probably shouldn't again). In an effort to have a better sense of eye contact, I moved the pupil back in the eye. Not totally successful. Here's the original without the eye work.
